Situation:

VMWare acquired Atlanta-based AirWatch and initially managed it as a wholly-owned subsidiary.  AirWatch had operations in various countries and leadership decided to onboard one country at a time to VMWare systems, tools, and processes. Overall, more than 1600 employees needed to be onboarded. The onboarding started with the smallest operation (Singapore) and then moved on to Australia, UK, and U.S. Go-to-market (‘GTM’) integration was pursued in parallel.

Kestrel Partners Engagement:

Kestrel project managed the finance workstream, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, and indirect procurement. Each of these sub-tracks had a lead that was assigned to the integration project. Our project manager planned the integration activities and proactively managed the integration with the leads of the sub-tracks in the extended finance organization.  In addition, they interfaced with other workstreams such as HR, Legal, and GTM to drive the timely completion of integration deliverables. They introduced tools and integration processes as needed in collaboration with the VMWare Finance Integration lead.

The chart below shows the timing of the integration of various AirWatch locations.
